Below is a recent e-mail letter inquire I would like to share with all of you... asking us if we are doing a combo design of Tesla and Solar for our all electric larger SUV car that never needs to be plugged into the wall.
Here was my e-mail reply as follows:
Hello Steve,
No., not at all on the solar question part. Solar simply speaking can not put out enough - on demand power as it is required to run an all electric larger size SUV. Which is what we are planning on doing. But I will say that. If we do use any solar it would be on a passive basis only. Such as when the car is parked outside....And if. The sun is out.... it will help but only a tiny bit. But I'm not at all a big solar proponent for any car usage. I have seen it but it pales in comparison to what we are talking about doing from many different stand points. At lest that's my answer in so much as to how solar cells tech current is.
I am familiar with the tesla roaster. I like the name. I wonder how they came up with it ? Any how.. I like the way the car looks. Sure. But I hate two seater's. And most people don't care for that.
In short. I will say that our tested prototype / design is way ahead of what they are doing. Plus the batteries that they use., I recently heard can potentially heat up and ..... well your guess after that is as good as mine as to what can potentially happen.
The tesla price-tag is way to high as well. If you ask me. Greed must have set that price tag 110% And on that note I'm sure they are getting away with it but. Its only great for now...... but our larger SUV /car shall be priced from 75k to no more then 100k with extras.
Tesla tech and ours are two totally different tech's. I mean. If I were to get a tesla., and I'm not. I might be able to use some of the fancy dash board informational read out gauges etc is all but certainly not the guts of what they are doing.
They do have a nice product. But lets face it. I., like others are not interested in plugging in a car into any wall outlet. To many what if's. Like for example: what if I'm sleeping and the house plug starts a fire ! That's a major concern.
And aside from that. I have to assume that. Under normal driving speeds ( highway etc ) the mileage they Tesla is claiming is even less. And even less with hills I'm sure etc. They are putting the best mileage on the sticker I'm sure.
